• Understand the Mental Health Act 1983 and mental health legislation in relation to a range of mental health conditions including Schizophrenia. • Know how to assess the needs of an individual with a learning disability and autism spectrum conditions. • Be able to support individuals with a learning disability and autism spectrum conditions to develop skills and independence. • Understand the importance of person-centred and recovery focused approaches to care. • Know how to implement a care plan for individuals with complex needs. • Understand how to promote positive risk taking with individuals with learning disabilities and autism spectrum conditions. • Understand the concept of safeguarding and how it relates to abuse and neglect. • Be able to identify signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect and know how to respond to them. • Know how to maintain a safe environment for individuals with complex needs. • Understand how to support individuals with mental health conditions including anxiety and depression. • Understand how to promote the rights of individuals including those with learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions and mental health conditions.
